At the time of Jude, among the Jewish spiritual literature, was included the cannon of Ezra: what is now known as the Old Testament. Ezra was a prophet and scribe who compiled the Old Testament books, but for whatever reason, he leaves out the Book of Enoch.
So when Jude comes along, the brother of Jesus, he actually quotes from the Book of Enoch in his writings, which cements the Book of Enoch into canonic scripture.
