E15. The Pagan Origins of Christmas

Most people believe that the origins of Santa Claus connect to a third century bishop named Saint Nicholas. He was supposedly born into a wealthy family of Greek descent during the time of the Roman empire. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, he was imprisoned and likely tortured during the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Diocletian... but he was released under the rule of Constantine the Great.
